To mark Shakespeare’s birthday this year, the Aravali campus hosted Dramatech’s production of The Merchant of Venice. 400 years after the death of William Shakespeare, his work came to life before a spellbound audience comprising students of classes 8, 9 and 10 from both Moulsari and Aravali campuses. The performance, directed by Renu S. Chopra, earned for the 31 year-old theatre grouop the Sahitya Kala Parishad Award for the Best Play in English 2015 and was highly appreciated by those classes actually studying the play as part of the ICSE curriculum as well as by those that will be studying it shortly. After the performance, the Chief Editors interviewed the cast and crew for their perspectives on performing Shakespeare before an audience of 13-16 year olds and his relevance and charm today.
